Twenty-Five Years in a Cocoon
I was the sweetest little caterpillar you ever did see,
A’dancin’ and a’singin’, filled with love
and joy and glee.
What happened, Baby?
I spent twenty-five years in a cocoon.
Oh, God, I thought I was doomed.
Will I never see the sun again?
Never be able to run again?
Twenty-five years in a cocoon.
I was the cutest, fuzzy caterpillar you ever did see.
Fell in love with an eagle who carried me over the sea.
So what happened?
I spent twenty-five years in a cocoon.
Lordy, I thought I was ruined!
Will I never sing and dance again?
Never know romance again?
Twenty-five years in a cocoon.
I was the saddest, sorriest caterpillar you ever did see.
When my eagle saw I couldn’t fly, I thought he’d eat
me!
That’s scary, Baby! How’d you save yourself?
I spent twenty-five years in a cocoon.
Never imagined I would bloom.
But here I am a free butterfly.
With the moon and stars I live in the sky
After twenty-five years in a cocoon.
