Introduction
All
Scripture is God inspired,
and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting,
and training in righteousness,
fully equipping me for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16
A
Gift of God
I
wish to add “comfort” and “healing” to Paul’s
list of the usefulness of Scripture. I received my psalms before
I ever studied Scripture. As I read them over and over, I found
myself being healed of a major mental illness. As I shared them
with others, I would often hear, “When you say your poems,
I see a light around you!” Yes, inspired words in the form
of sacred poems have power to heal, and bring peace and harmony
into our lives.
I
first realized that my writing was something rather unusual in 1964.
I had just experienced the incredibly beautiful natural birth of
my daughter. I was inspired to write to a dear Franciscan nun, Sister
Alonza, who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, comparing the
birth of my child with the transition she was going through. She
wrote back that my letter was “a holy edifice,” and
asked permission to share it with others.
As
a child I heard a fairy tale about a girl who spoke beautiful words.
Whenever she said anything, flowers and precious jewels came out
of her mouth. How I longed to be that girl. God put that longing
into my heart so that he could grant me my desire.
My words are a gift from God received in a language you can understand.
I gladly share them with you. May my words bless you richly and
bring you joy, comfort, wholeness, and perfect peace.
