Introduction
You
have distress in the world. But take heart!
I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Overcomer
When
asked, “What is your worst fear?” I laughed and laughed
and laughed as I answered,
“I
have been divorced, disowned, threatened, and thrown into a mental
hospital. I have been rejected, evicted, attacked, arrested, homeless,
penniless, robbed and raped. I have been diagnosed with AIDS, lived
with the pain of shingles for over a year, and much more. What can
I possibly fear? I have overcome the world.”
In
the Book of Revelation, we find that, because I overcome:
I
have the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise
of God. (Revelation 2:7)
I
am not at all hurt by the second death. (Revelation 2:11)
I
eat from the hidden manna, and receive from Jesus a white stone
with a new name written on it, known only to me. (Revelation 2:17)
Since
I keep the Lord’s works until the end, I am given authority
over the nations, and the morning star. (Revelation 2:26,28)
I
am clothed in white garments, and my name is in the Book of Life.
My name is acknowledged before God and his angels. (Revelation 3:5)
I
am a pillar in the temple of God. (Revelation 3:12)
I
have the right to sit with Christ on his throne just as He sat down
with His Father. (Revelation 3:21)
Come, overcome with me, that we may share all the blessings of God
together. The gifts I receive are for all who believe.
