"THE FIRST
TWENTY-NINE
DAYS" OF SO-CALLED
FREEDOM
|

|
|
This
moving anthology of twenty personal memoirs told by former inmates and
their loved ones is an excellent tool to educate the public about
the trials
and triumphs of newly released prisoners, thus helping to remove the
"ex-con" stigma.
The
first twenty-nine days
outside of the prison walls are the most challenging days a person
could face.
The rejections, intimidation, fear, and inability to navigate in
society as a
convicted felon unfortunately lead many men and women back to prison
within the
first sixty to ninety days. This book is dedicated to all those
affected by the
struggle: the victims who deserve restoration, the individuals who
hadn't been
given the necessary tools to live in this world, and those who don't
know where
to begin.
The First Twenty-Nine Days
was compiled and co-authored by Johnny L. Ellis and Abraham Rose.
As speakers and co-founders
of His Rose, Inc., a Spiritual Ministry of Love, Truth and
Beauty, they
are dedicated to raising awareness of spiritual principles through
personal
ministry and inspired literature, offering "living proof" that God is
alive and well, and that His Word is faithful and true. Ellis is an
activist
for social justice and community enlightenment as well as one of the
formerly
incarcerated. Rose is an ordained minister of Christ, author, poet,
prophetess, speaker, classical pianist, and spiritual educator.

Watch
out,
AIDS. Here comes LOVE!!
The
Legacy Campaign
Personal
accounts of lives forever changed when diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
|

|
|
An excellent tool to inform the public
that "Aids does not play favorite," thus helping to remove the stigma
associated with the diagnosis of HIV/Aids. Abraham Rose together with Open Door
Clinic compiled The
Legacy Campaign. She and Johnny L. Ellis are the co-founders
of His Rose, Inc., which published
this
work. They are speakers for Open Door
Clinic educating the public about treatment and prevention.
Despite the
progress that has been made in the medical treatment of HIV/AIDS,
people living
with this virus still carry with them the additional burden of the
stigma and
discrimination this disease brings with it. Open
Door Clinic has begun to address these issues by undertaking
the challenge
of collecting and making accessible the personal stories of HIV+ people
through The Legacy Campaign.
The stories
compiled in this book demonstrate the diversity of lives impacted by
HIV/AIDS.
They offer a powerful glimpse into the personal struggles of these
courageous
individuals who hope that their stories can contribute to limiting new
infections
while correcting and eliminating unwarranted fears, stigmas, and
discriminatory
practices where they live and work.
